Getting Intimate with Couples

Facilitator

Ronen Stilman, PTSTA

Fee

Early Bird (until 19 January): £165
Course Fee: £180

Who is it aimed at?

This course is for those thinking about branching out into Couples work or who are working with Couples but want to enhance their practice. In particular it is concerned with how to put theory into practice in a robust but sensitive, approachable and fun way.

Course Outline

Whilst there are many similarities between individual therapy and couples therapy, there are some differentiating factors that require a different approach and being able to view the work through a different lens. Specifically, this involves attending to the processes of three people simultaneously and how our processes might interfere or enhance the connection to the other in the here and now.

During the two-day course we will delve into the rich, confusing and sometimes scary and treacherous realm of the intimate through verbal and non-verbal communication. We will also explore attitudes and ethics towards togetherness with all its facets, such as power, sex, trust and shame.

Through play, exploration and discussion, this course will introduce some key theoretical concepts from a wide range of sources such as Transactional Analysis, Existential, Systemic, Psychodynamic and behavioural schools of thought.

There will be a combination of teaching, discussion, experiential practices and question and answer sessions.
