Workshop Outline
Ecology is the study of organisms and how they interact with the environment around them, much like script theory!
In the second workshop in this series, we will be exploring the impact of the natural environment on who we come to believe we are. Calling on work from Marshall, Elston, Henn and others, we will review recent theory in TA on script development and consider how this can be applied to client work.
Who is it aimed at?
Trainees and practitioners in practice, or nearing starting practice, who want to include ecological considerations within their work.
Aims
- To provide participants with a theoretical framework which brings ecological consideration into TA script theory
- To inform participants about recent thinking about relationship with landscape being a therapeutic tool for script change
Learning Objectives
Participants should
- Have a basic understanding of script development with consideration to landscape to integrate with their existing theories and approaches to understanding script
- Have a basic understanding about the use of ecological work to provide a different experience for clients in the support of script change
Facilitator
Rebecca Elston (She/Her) CTA, MSc, UKCP Reg
Rebecca is an indoor and outdoor psychotherapist and eco-therapist. She has an interest in exploring the constructs under which people come to be who they are, from both an interpersonal and ecological perspective.
She has been an active member of the Eco TA community since the first cohort in 2020 and was published in the TAJ in January 2023 with an article about script development within an ecological frame.

This is the second in a series of two-hour Eco TA workshops throughout May 2024.
