2-day online CPD workshop

Who is it aimed at?

Practitioners from all modalities at all levels and all fields 

Course Outline

Ronen will take participants through a deep dive into exploring how our relationship with technology affects how we relate and identify with self and others.  We will go through implications at an Intra-psychic, Interpersonal, and Systemic (social & political) level, and how might this inform us as individuals and practitioners.   

The workshop will introduce new ideas in Transactional Analysis theory and practice, including material from recent publications in the TAJ, Stilman, R. (2022) Attached to Technology – Exploring Identity and Human Relating in Virtual and Corporeal World. Transactional Analysis Journal, 52(2):93:105 and the International Journal of Psychotherapy, Stilman, R. (2022) Screen Relations in Practice – A Reflection on Rupture and Repair . International Journal of Psychotherapy, 26(1):53-60.

The workshop will be delivered through a mix of theoretical teaching, discussion, small group work, and experiential exercises where you will be encouraged to interact and play with the material.

Aims

The aim of the course is to explore your relationship with technology and its wide reach and layered impact to how you identify and relate. 

Learning Outcomes

  • To become familiar with new transactional analysis theory that describes our relationship with technology  
  • To increase awareness and explore intrapsychic, interpersonal and systemic implications in the context of our relationship with technology  
  • To address and explore limitation and unconscious process when working online 
  • To increase awareness of the possibilities that technology affords practitioners 
  • To explore a range of practical examples in clinical setting 

Course Structure

Day 1: 

  • Setting the Frame – introduction and context  
  • Me, Myself and I – Reflection on Intrapsychic implications 
  • You & Me – Reflections on Interpersonal implications 
  • Us and Them – Societal, Political and Ecological Implications 

Day 2: 

  • So what now? From hopeless to hopeful  
  • Screen Relations part 1 – Unconscious process  
  • Screen Relations part 2 – Implications to practice  
  • Open floor 

Facilitator Biography

Ronen Stilman is a psychotherapist, supervisor and trainer, working with individuals, couples and practitioners in his Edinburgh centre practice and Cyberspace. He has a keen interest in Humans and how they relate and identify, integrating his background in technology and organisational change.
