This series of four workshops offers a focused exploration of the key theoretical concepts within Cathexis Transactional Analysis.

Course Outline
This workshop invites participants to explore the transformative potential of Self-Reparenting and Spot Reparenting in therapy. Through brief teaching segments, illustrative clinical examples, group discussion, and short exercises, we will examine how these approaches can nurture growth, repair developmental gaps, and support clients’ inner healing. Reflection on ethical practice and intersectional perspectives will guide participants in using these reparenting concepts thoughtfully and responsibly in diverse clinical contexts.
Aims
To provide a clear understanding of the theoretical foundations of Self-Reparenting and Spot Reparenting.
To explore practical applications of these approaches in contemporary clinical practice.
To encourage discussion and critical reflection on the concepts, including strengths and limitations.
To examine ethical considerations in applying reparenting techniques.
To consider intersectional and diversity factors when integrating these approaches in therapy.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Understand key stages, conditions and theoretical concepts behind Self-Reparenting and Spot Reparenting.
Explain how these approaches can inform clinical practice.
Apply reparenting concepts thoughtfully and ethically in therapy.
Critically reflect on the models, including their practical relevance and limitations.
Consider diversity and intersectional factors when using these approaches with clients.
Course Structure
This workshop combines brief didactic teaching, short clinical examples, group discussion, and possible short exercises.
Introduction and Overview – Key concepts and workshop goals.
Self-Reparenting – Theory, examples, and discussion.
Spot Reparenting – Theory, examples, and discussion.
Practical Applications – Integrating concepts ethically in clinical work, with reflection on intersectionality.
Summary and Reflection – Consolidation of learning and takeaways for practice.
Facilitator
Hanna Konoplianyk PTSTA-P
Hanna Konoplianyk is a TA therapist, trainer, and supervisor based in Yorkshire, working primarily online. Originally from Ukraine, she now calls both Ukraine and Britain home.
Her work is grounded in a relational approach, with special interests in multicultural and multilingual psychotherapy, narcissistic process, historical trauma, and the online therapeutic space.
Hanna is a core tutor at Physis Scotland, Director and committee member of the North East TA Conference and actively contributes to the TA community in the UK and beyond.
