Advanced Year 3 and beyond
This year is intended for trainees who want to qualify at academic Level 11 (Level 7 English/Welsh framework) and progress to the CTA (Certified Transactional Analyst) qualification and/or membership of the UK Council for Psychotherapy. The CTA is an qualification awarded by the European Association of Transactional Analysis (EATA), with both international and national recognition.
Advanced Year 3 students 2023-2024
There are 20 days of training comprising:

9 weekends of training

1 day at a regional conference
The Saturdays of each weekend will focus on developing your theoretical understanding through a variety of methods including taught elements, experiential exercises, working in pairs and small groups, group discussion and group process. The learning contract on Sunday is developed by the trainees and can include developing clinical skills, client presentation, supervision, exam preparation, mock exams and revisiting theory.

Following successful completion of Advanced Year 3, you will have completed your formal TA core training at academic Level 11 (Level 7 English and Welsh framework) and be eligible to progress towards your CTA exam and/or qualification as a UKCP registered psychotherapist.

Each of these Advanced Year 3 training weekends will invite reflection on systemic, political, social, environmental, ecological, cultural and intersectional contexts (as relevant).

Course Fees
The annual course fee for the Advanced Year 3 programme for 2024/2025 is £2880 (inc. VAT).

Assessment

One 3000 word essay

One 4000 word case study

One piece of transcript analysis (maximum 500 words)

Personal Therapy
A minimum of 40 hours of personal therapy per year is a requirement for Advanced clinical training.
Recognition
On successful completion of Advanced Year 3 you will be awarded a Physis Scotland Completion Certificate and will be eligible to progress into an Exam Preparation Group to support you in your progression towards your Certified Transactional Analyst exam and/or UKCP registration.
