Contemporary Applications of Cathexis TA

We are delighted that Hanna Konoplianyk, PTSTA(P), is offering a new series of workshops for May 2026 - on Contemporary Applications of Cathexis TA. The series of 4 workshops gives a space to explore relational and developmental processes that often sit at the heart of clinical work, but can be difficult to name or work with explicitly.

Rooted in the Cathexis approach to Transactional Analysis, these seminars focus on how early relational experiences shape adult patterns of relating, coping, and organising the self. Themes such as passivity, symbiosis, and defensive relational patterns are explored not as problems to be fixed, but as meaningful adaptations that continue to influence therapeutic relationships and clinical process.

This series is designed for practitioners who want to deepen their conceptual understanding while staying closely connected to the lived realities of therapeutic work. Alongside conceptual clarity, the series includes thoughtful discussion about how to apply these ideas ethically in practice — including how to account for difference, diversity, and context when working with developmental theory. The emphasis is on thoughtful, relational practice — supporting practitioners to make sense of what they encounter in the room, and to work with greater confidence and nuance.

The Cathexis TA seminars take place online on Thursday evenings, 6–8pm (UK), during May 2026. Tickets cost £25 per seminar. Click on the links or images below for full details of each workshop.
